Dasung is a well-known brand in the segment of e-ink displays and offers both portable and stationary monitors of this type. Now the company has released the Dasung Paperlike 13K. The 13K doesn't refer to the resolution but to the screen size, which measures 13.3 inches diagonally. This panel sports a refresh rate of 37Hz and resolution of 3200 x 2400 pixels, the latter of which should result in a sharp image quality.

The Paperlike 13K’s refresh rate is also pretty high, at least compared to other e-ink monitors that are usually much slower than conventional LC or OLED displays. This particular technology does not need a backlight and makes it easier to read text even in direct sunlight, which is why e-ink panels are found inside many e-readers, including Amazon’s popular Kindle devices.

That being said, the Paperlike 13K measures around 12 x 10 x 0.2 inches and can be hooked up to a PC, laptop or other devices via mini HDMI or USB Type-C. Speakers are built-in, but the portable Dasung monitor also features the ubiquitous 3.5mm headphone jack. The e-ink display is already on sale in Asia for prices of roughly $620, but unfortunately, there are no further details on a possible global release.
